Sustainability

At Life on Cancri we are committed to sustainability in a growing jewellery industry that is quite the opposite. In a market rife with fast fashion, cheap materials and unethical labour practices, we're switching the focus back to handmade, high quality, slow makes.

We exclusively use recycled metals, and recycled and certified Swarovski pearls. These innovative pearls offer the same lustrous beauty as traditional pearls but without the environmental and ethical costs associated with pearl farming. The pearl industry has long been plagued by unsustainable and harmful practices, including the exploitation of oysters, the destruction of marine ecosystems, and the use of harmful chemicals and pollutants.

By contrast, Swarovski pearls are created using a cutting edge manufacturing process that mimics the natural formation of pearls. This process eliminates the need for oysters and allows for greater control over the size, shape, and colour of the pearls. Additionally, Swarovski pearls are made from a unique crystal base that is both durable and eco friendly, ensuring that our jewellery will stand the test of time without contributing to environmental degradation.

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our choice of metals. We prioritise the use of recycled metals, such as recycled sterling silver and gold, whenever possible. By using recycled metals, we reduce our reliance on newly mined materials, which can have significant environmental and social impacts. Recycled metals are refined and repurposed from existing sources, such as old jewellery or industrial byproducts, minimising waste and conserving natural resources.

Our packaging is designed to be minimal, recyclable, and biodegradable, so you can feel good about your purchase from start to finish.

At Life on Cancri, we believe that true luxury should never come at the expense of the planet or its inhabitants. Join us in our mission to redefine the jewellery industry and create a more sustainable, ethical future, one piece at a time.
